All the Single Sign-Ons

Last month, our developers released an exciting new feature for the ZOOMcatalog suite of applications – Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication. Well, okay, it was exciting to us. We’re a bunch of techies, though, so even if you noticed, you might not have thought it was a big deal.

That’s why we sat down with the Head of Design, Alex Hughes, and the Lead Developer, Enrique Ojeda, to talk about what SSO is why it’s important to our users, and how it’s going to make ZOOMcatalog even better in the future.

What is it?

Enrique explained Single Sign-On to us. He said that SSO allows users to log into multiple websites and applications using one username and password. (Hence the name.) If you’ve ever used Google or Facebook account to log into a website that wasn’t Google or Facebook, you’ve used SSO.

Why is it important?

For years, our users have had to juggle two different logins and accounts if they wanted to access our different products. You would need a login for ZOOMcatalog.com and a different login for ZOOMcustom and ZOOMstudio.

“Now, all authentication sessions are centralized,” Enrique explained. “It cuts down on repetition.”

“We all know how painful it is to maintain different accounts,” Alex told us. “SSO relieves that headache.”

How does it make us better?

“It’s a big user experience update,” Alex said. “By knocking down these login walls, we’re taking a big first step towards a unified, continuous experience.”

“Simplifying user management allows us to create custom application packages,” Enrique added.

What does that mean to non-techies? Well, for one, it means moving between different ZOOMcatalog applications just got a lot easier. It also means that we will be able to develop new tools and get them out to you faster, and when we do, you won’t have to make a new account or remember a new password. In the near future, you’ll even have a dashboard where all of your tools, content, assets, and analytics will be centralized in one place.

Shout Outs

Making something really complex seem easy is a true sign of genius. Our entire development team worked long hours to make this seemingly simple update happen, and they all deserve a round of applause. We especially want to shout out Abraham, Juan, Karla, and Enrique. We really couldn’t have pulled this off without them.

We can’t wait to tell you about all the new and awesome updates they’re working on right now. Make sure you’re subscribed to our mailing list and be the first to know whenever a new feature is released.
